I read Noir by K.W. Jeter without knowing who he was. The book was set in the future, but man, it had the ambience of the 1940s. And the fun part was that he could play with SF memes in that setting.<br /><br />It's important for the reader to keep an open mind, but the good part about today's market is that there are books for every K.
