PRO SE PRODUCTIONS OPENS SUBMISSIONS FOR ‘FEDORAS ON STUN!”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SCIENCE FICTION INVADES THE 1930S AND 40S IN A NEW WAY!
PRO SE PRODUCTIONS OPENS SUBMISSIONS FOR ‘FEDORAS ON STUN!”

Even though Pulp Magazines were one of the fertile fields, if not the birth place of modern science fiction, the term Pulp Fiction casts an image of gats and gangsters, dames and dolls, fedoras and flatfoots. Pro Se Productions is opening a submissions call for stories that blend the two in some way, that put the fashion, the glitz, the darkness, and the spirit of the 1930s and 40s into a tale ripe with aliens and laser guns. FEDORAS ON STUN is now accepting submissions.

Stories for FEDORAS ON STUN must feature a science fiction plot, but must also borrow and/or utilize aspects of the 1930s and 40s United States setting heavily. This can be done by having something of a science fiction sort take place in that era. It can also be done by having an alien race or some other science fiction concept viewed through a 1930s-40s prism (Gangster aliens on Mars, as a bad, but quick example). As long as both the elements of the time period and science fiction are present, the story will be considered. Stories focused on World War II are admissible, but will take the backseat to more original utilizations of the concept.

Stories for FEDORAS ON STUN must be 10,000 words in length. A proposal of 100-500 words must be submitted to submissions@prose-press.com. Authors not previously published by Pro Se Productions must submit a writing sample of at least two pages with their proposals. Authors whose proposals are accepted must submit the first four pages of their accepted stories as quickly as possible for review by Pro Se staff. Final deadline for completed stories is 90 days following acceptance of proposals.

FEDORAS ON STUN is a part of the Pro Se Anthology Project, THE PRO SE OPEN, and is scheduled to be published in the 2016-2018 calendar years, depending on submissions and other factors.

Submit any questions concerning this collection to submissions@prose-press.com.
