The Writer Will Take Your Questions Now (#78) -- Charities

What charities do you endorse?

I know the en vogue answer for comic book writers is the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) and The Hero Initiative, and I do support those and encourage you to do so as well, but I have a few others that are particularly near and dear to my heart. These are a few of my favorite groups/charities, and I think they're worth a few minutes of your time, and perhaps a few dollars as well. Thanks.

  1. You never really know where your money is going.
Just last week I found out money I sent for breast cancer research went to Planned Parenthood. How are the two connected?

  2. My mother in law is a breast cancer survivor. I regularly give to the Susan G. Komen fund for breast cancer research. Last week it was announced the Susan G. Komen fund withdrew funding to Planned Parenthood. Under much pressure by Hollywood types and others, who threatened to stop supporting Susan G. Komen they reinstated funding to Planned Parenthood. I donated my money for breast cancer research and my money was not used for breast cancer research. I find that a little odd.
